PRETORIA, SOUTH AFRICA: Since 2017 the Vapour Products Association of South Africa (VPASA) has continued to educate South Africans about vaping. This month, the not-for-profit delves even deeper with a campaign focused on the origins and uses of nicotine, an ingredient found in some vape liquids.

PRETORIA, SOUTH AFRICA, 31 August 2022: Recent evidence has shown that female-driven entrepreneurs across several sectors are more resilient and determined to transform their economic circumstances. Data from Mastercard’s Index of Women Entrepreneurs (MIWE) notes that while South Africa is one of only 12 economies where women’s entrepreneurial activity rates increased in 2021, with 11.1% of working-age women engaged in early-stage entrepreneurial activity, their growth remains hampered by less supportive entrepreneurial support. Insufficient government support for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) has been identified as one of the main constraints to the growth of women-led businesses.

The ARB is the self-regulatory body that administers the industry-owned Code of Advertising Practice around the content of advertising. The VPASA represents manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers of smoke-free vapour products in South Africa and is committed to ensuring quality and safety in all its members’ products and marketing.

Pretoria, 09 June 2022: Today, the Vapour Products Association of South Africa (VPASA) launched its annual Youth Access Prevention campaign, through which its members in the manufacturing, wholesaling and retailing of Electronic Nicotine and non-Nicotine Delivery Systems (EN/NDS) pledge to not sell these products to under-18s. In its second iteration, the campaign is aimed at strengthening self-regulation in the sector. This campaign reiterates the following:

A call for the recognition of vaping as a harm reducing alternative to smoking

Pretoria, Wednesday, 11 May 2022 – South Africa is one of the countries facing serious social challenges including chronic addictions and mental wellness. The country is not unique in this respect. The widespread availability of harmful substances, including tobacco, continue to drive up the costs of healthcare through a growing incidence of non-communicable diseases such as cancer. Further, inadequate provision of quit support measures for tobacco users makes the task of lowering the country’s smoking incidence that much more difficult, with smokers left to fend for themselves.
